Weekly Newsletter - 5/26/25 - Week 35 of instruction

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Sunday! I hope you’re all enjoying a restful and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. Just a quick reminder that school will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of the holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 27th.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in our classroom this week (Week 35 of instruction):

πŸ“š Gradebook Reminder

The gradebook will officially close on Wednesday, June 4th. After this date, I will no longer be able to enter any grades. Please help your child check for any missing assignments and ensure they are submitted by the deadline. Every point counts, and it’s important we finish the trimester strong!

🚌 Field Trip Highlights

Our 5th grade field trip this past week was a huge success! The students had an incredible time and made some great memories with their groups and chaperones. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to join us—you helped make the day extra special!

πŸŽ‰ May Birthday Celebration

We’ll be celebrating our May birthdays this Friday, May 30th. If you would like to send in a treat for the class, we would love to include it in the celebration. Thank you in advance for helping us make this day fun for our birthday students!

✏️ Final Spelling Test

Our last spelling test of the year is coming up on Monday, June 2nd. Students received their final word list this past Tuesday, so they have plenty of time to review. Please encourage them to study—let’s finish our spelling work on a high note!

πŸ“– Curriculum Update

  • ELA: We’ll be wrapping up Bridge to Terabithia this week. Next week, students will have the opportunity to watch the film adaptation and compare the two.

  • Math: We’re diving into dimensions and area, using flag models as a hands-on way to explore these concepts. There will be a math quiz on Friday.

  • May 27th: K–2 Spring Numeracy Assessments begin

  • May 30th: Progress Reports available

  • June 2nd: Final Spelling Test
